Ministerial Meetings - Beginning the new year

From February 15th to the 20th we held our annual ministerial meeting for our lay Bible workers who were chosen to minister in our newly defined districts. The meetings took place at our airbase in San Jose (known as OFASA). There were eleven brothers in attendance for the training that week.
To present the subject matter we had the staff support of the East Peruvian Mission, (MOP) led by Pastor Jose Chavez, who imparted their knowledge to our missionaries. We also had a very special guest who, after 25 years, was returning to the city of Pucallpa. I am referring to Pastor Victor Brañez who was president of the Mission from 1979 to 1985. He is a man with much experience in our territory.

The topics presented were designed to give district administration tools to our missionaries: church management, plans for visiting, making work plans, discipling, keeping the departments of the church up to date, and above all, how to evangelize in our areas. All these teachings will be a great help to our missionaries in the management of the districts assigned to them.
Some of our Bible workers had difficulties getting to the airbase as they were delayed by travel issues as a result of the unusually high river this year, but in the end everyone was able to reach the airbase and the meetings were successful.

Following Christ's example

That week we faced another obstacle: the uncertainty of the financial means to begin to implement the work plan after the ECLA. We knew there were funds coming, but we didn’t know how much. We prayed a lot that week with the Bible workers, as did all the people who are involved with Peru Projects, and at the end of the week we had the answer. We were able to send missionaries to four of the eight districts. A week later we had another response from God and we sent the missionaries chosen to work in the community of Puerto Breu. This place is the capital of the Yurua district which borders Brazil. Here there is no Adventist presence; this year’s challenge is to plant a church there. The missionaries we sent to Puerto Breu are Ashaninkas and speak the language of the inhabitants of this whole region of the jungle.

This is how we have five missionary districts with their missionaries of the eight that have been established. Three areas are waiting for the missionaries to come and we keep praying that the Lord responds quickly and we can get more money to continue with our plan.
The missionary districts currently with missionaries are:
· Puerto Breu: Noé and Dinos Mattire
· Marañón: David Saboya and his family.
· Masisea: Geisen Macedo and his family.
· Amaquiría: Eli Dávila and his family.
· Sheshea: Wilfredo Maynas and Job Mattire.
Places that are waiting for funding are:
· Pevas (Amazonas): Elvio Manuyama and his family.
· Puhinahua (Bajo Ucayali): Miqueas Rojas and Carlos Franco.
· Puerto Islandia: Antonio Zatalaya and his family.
It is in this way we are starting work in 2011. Peru Projects’ ministerial meeting was the beginning of our activities and we pray that God will bless the plan we have and we can finish in December with the presence of the Gospel in eight new locations in our territory.
